Pilgrimage on Easter Monday and San Cristobal

This is a very ancient custom. All the people of Villarrubia make a pilgrimage to the sanctuary of Ntra. Sra. la Santísima Virgen de la Sierra to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ and enjoy the orchestras and charangas (brass bands) that liven up the festivities on this day.

During the pilgrimage of San Cristóbal it is a tradition to walk up to the Ermita on this day to eat the traditional “hornazo”, made with sweetened bread dough (torta) and the egg placed on top, held in place with a cross of dough, all baked in the oven.
