Bodega Finca Antigua
Finca Antigua, whose name refers to the numerous old vines already planted at the time of acquisition, is an extension of 1,000 hectares, with an altitude of over 900 meters, of which the vineyard occupies 421, the rest is mount low with holm oaks, kermes oaks… The reconversion of the farm entailed an arduous technical work of cataloging and identifying plots, which concluded with planting new varieties with great potential for adaptation to the terroir and the conservation of those capable of recovering from the scars of the erosion.
Bodega Finca Antigua
Finca Antigua was a real ‘crush’ for the Martínez Bujanda Family . With the firm intention of diversifying the original winery business in La Rioja, they traveled a large part of the national geography in search of unique vineyards with personality, until they landed in an extreme environment for vine cultivation which, far from the traditional and uniform extensions of La Mancha, offered extraordinary possibilities for innovation in winemaking.
The Martínez Bujanda Family acquired Finca Antigua at the beginning of 1999 and inaugurated the newly built winery in 2003. Finca Antigua combines the best of the old and the new world with a collection of surprising, creative and innovative wines that express the personality of the land where they are grown.
Things to do at the Bodega Finca Antigua
The winery is entirely consistent with the Finca Antigua wine style, a perfect example of avant-garde and efficient architecture. In its interior we find the latest technological innovations, but always respecting artisan care in the production of wine. Steel, stone, obtained from the same farm, and cement are the materials used to design a spectacular building made up of three large boxes.
The extraordinary extension integrates the 421 hectares of vineyards in an environment of another 600 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland, where holm oaks and kermes oaks dominate, with shrubs such as rosemary and thyme and very diverse fauna, from ocellated lizards to dormice and other species such as rabbits, hares and partridges.
