Organised by the Ayuntamiento de Alcázar de San Juan, the competition has the peculiarity of having a jury made up of 1,000 people who are in charge of evaluating the characteristics of the wines.

The awards that will be presented to the winning wines (Quijote de Oro, Quijote de Plata y Quijote de Bronce) represent one of the most important certifications for wine, as it is the recognition granted by more than 1,000 people.

Around 80 wineries from all over Castilla La Mancha take part in each edition of the competition. There are 250 wines in the competition, which means that 1,500 bottles will be used for the blind tasting.

Wineries belonging to the different Designations of Origin of Castilla La Mancha, as well as Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla, such as D.O. Manchuela, D.O. Valdepeñas, D.O. Almansa, D.O. Jumilla, D.O. Uclés, D.O. Méntrida, D.O. Mondéjar and D.O. La Mancha, will be taking part in the competition.

This year is the tenth anniversary of the event and Alcázar de San Juan will offer new gastronomic and cultural activities during the weekend, in collaboration with institutions, hotels and wineries. These include:

11:30 a.m. Bodegas Viñasoro: Visit to the winery with tasting of 3 wines and local cheese. Price 6€.
12:30 a.m. Bodegas Alort: Tasting of Pétrola (3 wines) and Baltar (2 wines) and aperitif. Price 9€.
